Vancouver-based Damian Michaels writes from a world that is recognizably his own, even when the details get strange. There are tiled bathrooms, temporary connections, late-night screens, and the occasional feeling that you've somehow ended up somewhere you weren't supposed to be. The songs don't really explain how these things fit together. They just keep turning up.

The lyrics keep coming back to connection, disappearance, desire, grief, and the things people carry around quietly.
The vocals are close, the production is intimate, and the songs aren't pretending any of this happened somewhere more glamorous than it did.
There isn’t really an escape hatch here. The ocean metaphors, strange creatures and tiled bathrooms all belong to the same place. So do grief, hookups, sex parties, loneliness, friendship, and the strange little connections that happen after midnight. Not everything has a clear explanation, and that’s probably for the best. Some things are more interesting when they’re left a little unresolved. The music lives somewhere between wanting to disappear and wanting someone to notice you’re gone.
